Zermatt
Events 2010:
– 31st Raiffeisen Open Zermatt
A small yellow ball finds its way into the Raiffeisen
Open Zermatt every year. Here men and women
display the art of tennis at the highest level. Even Roger Federer took
part in this tournament when he was younger.
By the way: the 1st International Tournament in 1980 (then known as
the Wega Cup) was won by local tennis ace, Ruedi Kronig.
He still teaches this fascinating sport in Zermatt today.

– 19th Matterhorn Eagle Cup
This tournament does not take place on a normal golf
course, but in the Alpine landscape, in the midst of natural surroundings,
between Rotenboden and Riffelberg in the Gornergrat area at between
2800 and 2500 metres above sea level.
The 9-hole course fits perfectly into the Alpine landscape. The Matterhorn
is always in view. Play is in the original Scottish style -
without fairways or perfectly mown greens. Instead there are any amount
of obstacles: rocks, cliffs, unevenness in the grassy areas
and also "marmot apartments". At 75 cm, the holes are larger
than normal - yet putting is a real challenge.
A very special kind of enjoyment - not just for golfers but also for
the spectators.
